200th post giveaway!! (updated rules)

Followers: 60.

Not too shabby, eh? (although, after reading Carebear's 100th post giveaway and seeing her 304 followers, I'm thinking I'm a little behind!!! And I stole her giveaway ideas - see below).

Anyway, I started blogging last July (with this post) because I wanted to meet other cleft mommies. I found Mary's blog (with her son Ian) and that led me to Janeen, Krissy, and Shannon's blogs. And Allison's, who I now know in real life (read about the crazy way we met here). Also, it became a great way for me to let my family and other friends know what was going on in our lives (ok, in Aidan's life - does anyone really care about what I made for dinner or how I cleaned the toilet? You do??? Ok then, my ramblings shall continue!!!) -- that one was for YOU, Mom. : )

And then Chad's cousin Kameron started a blog and I ended up "meeting" a lot of her followers... one was Brooke, who convinced me to give her blog a little makeover. Before Aidan was rolling/crawling/on the go, I was able to squeeze in a few makeovers in my spare time. But then I went back to work part-time in January, and since then, life has been pretty different. I blog when I can, but I definitely don't get to the commenting that I'd like to.

Anyway, I thought I'd put down in writing some blog goals (as if I need more goals I probably won't complete!!)...

1) comment back to peoples' comments.

You guys leave such GREAT comments on my blog. But I would love to have time to respond to all of those well-written comments, like to this post I wrote on Monday about weddings.

(by the way, did you know my buddy Joy and I share the exact same wedding date? July 12th, 2003. One hot, HOT day. So it'll be 6 years next month for both of us!)

Wait a minute, now I want to answer the wedding questions too!!

----------------------------------------------------

1) Most memorable moment - laughing through my vows. I wrote our vows to be said in the "repeat after me" fashion, and some we repeated together. At the rehearsal, the pastor broke up one of the vows into 2 shorter phrases, thinking it'd be easier for us. But where she stopped sounded funny, and I busted up laughing!! During the ceremony, I already had that in my mind when she came to that same spot. Everyone thought I was crying, because my head was bobbing up and down. Nope!! No tears for me on my wedding day!

2) What would I change - A lot of you agreed you wouldn't have a big wedding if you could do it again. Me too!! Loved my wedding, but at this stage of my life, I could picture it in a park or on the beach, with a small reception under white hanging lanterns.

And I'd try on more dresses, just for fun. Bought the first one I tried. I keep telling Chad he has to take me dress shopping so I can have that experience, but he thinks it'd be bad to "trick" the salespeople. I say, "Who cares???" I know they work on commission, but still...

3) July 12th, 2003 - 6 years next month!

--------------------------------------------

Ok, back to my original thought... geez, I get so off-task!

2) print out blog with Blurb (if you're thinking of doing it, I have some suggestions I'll write about later)

3) stop comparing myself with every "organic, stay at home, cloth-diapering, hand-crafting, amazing picture taking" mom out there (and no, I'm not JUST talking about MckMama). (on a side note, Chad and I have discussed switching to bumGenius cloth diapers this summer, since I'll be home. I'm kind of excited!! We'll still use disposables when we're out and about.)

---------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, in honor of my 200th post, I figured I better jump on the bandwagon and do a giveaway!! That's right, my very first "you'll-get-something-in-the-mail" giveaway!!! I'd love to give away a blog makeover, but seriously, I am SO on a hiatus from that. Trying to finish (or rather, start) Ande's makeover now and doing updates for my current makeovers. Ugh!

So... I tried to think about things that would really say ME...

---------------------------------------

Here's what you'll win (pick ONE):

$25 Scrapbook Graphics gift certificate (for your online scrapbooking/blog makeover-ing)

$25 Pediped gift certificate (my favorite little tots shoes!! From newborn to kid size 12. The girls' shoes are to die for!! -- check 'em out on my Pod here and here). And check out his new ones below! Sporty!! : ) By the way, Pediped is running a promotion for the Make a Wish foundation!

$25 Gymboree gift card (my favorite kids' store besides Old Navy, Gap, and Pumpkin Patch)

$25 Starbucks gift card (I hate coffee, but I know it'll please everyone else!)

-----

In addition to the gift card, you'll also get...

giveaway1
giveaway2

1. a pair of my favorite gardening gloves by Atlas!
2. my must-have drink of the summer... Crystal Light Peach Tea (the on-the-go packets are my favorites!).
3. Oral B Satin floss... 'cuz, you know, I'm a flossing addict! Well, I was before I fell off the wagon after my dentist appt. in March. Bleeding gums again. : (
4. Strawberry fruit leather!!! Just found an all strawberry 8-pack at Toys R Us. Perfection!
5. my favorite scent of Bath & Body Works foaming hand wash - Coconut lime verbena. I swear I wash my hands more just to use this soap!
6. Veggie Booty! Argh. It's the Pod's favorite snack... if Daddy and Mama Pod leave him any.

So... is that enough? Need a lock of the Pod's hair? : )

----------------------------------------

How to enter:

- leave me a comment. How easy is that??? You can talk about your favorite B&B Works scents or your favorite Stretch Island flavor. Or just say hi!

UPDATED -- Extra entries (leave a comment about each):

Some of you included these things in one comment... if you can comment again and say, "I'm a follower" or "I left you a pirate joke," etc., then I can count you for more votes. I'll be using Chad's random number picker, so the more times you comment, the better your chances!!!

- become an adventures of aidanpod follower (leave me a comment if you already are)
- blog about this giveaway --- honestly, I don't like feeling pressured to do this myself, but if you'd like to, I figured it should be worth an extra entry! (and leave me a comment saying you did)
- go to Pediped and tell me what your favorite style shoe is... they have such cute names too!! Aidan has a pair of "Ethan," "Maxx," and "Josh" originals. But seriously, the girl shoes are the cutest!! (and leave me a comment!!)
- buy a pair of Pediped shoes that support the Make a Wish foundation (they sell them at Nordstrom & other stores too!) (and leave me a comment saying which pair you bought)
- tell me a pirate joke. Seriously!! (and write it in a separate comment!!)

I'll be picking a winner next Saturday, June 13th, at 10pm (Pacific time).

Thanks everyone for reading!!!

Honestly I don't know how people afford to do giveaways! They're always such nice prizes! Maybe I'm too poor to hang out in blogland! I could only offer a free blog makeover, but there never seems to be any time!

I'd sure love to win! I'm a follower...you didn't say if we had to comment separately on that one.

200th post & 60 followers! That's impressive! You go!

Love the give away. I love the shoes, especially the Jayden Black pair. So cute. My fav B&B is Cucumber Melon, and yes I wash my hands more because of the soap. And now for my pirate joke: Why were the pirates jealous of Celine Dion? Because of her sunkin chest. (that is the best I have got with a 4th grader and a boob man helping me out). Hope you have a great weekend.

I'm only going to enter your giveaway if you enter mine. ;)

That's impressive Heather. I dream of 100 posts and 10 followers! Cograts!

I can't wait to see your tips for the blurb book. I got that idea from I heart Faces and have been working on it slowly for about a week, but any tips you have are appreciated!

Did you ever try out the Live Writer? It's making my life so much easier.... and I'm normally doing it the hard way!

AND, I'm still in love with the Bath & Body Works "Cucumber Melon" and "Warm Vanilla Sugar"... Oh and "Juniper Breeze" (which was my first... I had never heard of B&BW, until I had this scent in a hotel in Miami) OK... I'll stop now... I'm starting to blog in your comments!

And I love you guys too! This is fun!

I wish we would have used the bum genius diapers, we're getting so close to being done though, with diapers that is. Fingers crossed Abby pees on the potty sometime soonish . . . no pressure this time around though.

Yes, girls Pediped shoes are SO cute! We have never owned a pair, so this may be our chance!

You rock lady! Can't wait to hang out again soon!

And our favorite pirate joke.....
How much did the pirate pay to get his ears pierced?

and I forgot to add my favorite bath and bodyworks scent is Midnight Pomegranate and Coconut Lime Verbena and they used to have a kids strawberry scent that was the best...of course they always discontinue the ones I like!

and an awesome Peach Tea Sangria using Crystal Light Peach tea can be found here....it is amazing!!!!

http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/peachy-iced-tea-sangria-92071.aspx

we usually make the adult version of it and just use frozen fruit instead of adding ice (helps keep it cold)

Joy Howse said...

I am also a follower. Wouldn't know why someone wouldn't want to be. With all those cute pics of the pod and the quick witted writings of his mom. That is a no brainer.

Love the Jayden Black pair of shoes, but left that in one comment before so now I am following the rules and making a seperate comment.

Joy Howse said...

And lasly (I think), Cucumber Melon is still my favorite scent from B&B, that hasn't changed since this morning when I commented the wrong way. :)

Allison said...

And now for the favorite pair of Pediped shoes . . . I'd have to say the Abigail in Brown/Blue, even though it's not spelled exactly like our Abigael, it's still my baby's name! I also love the Caroline in Navy, and the Annie, okay, I guess I like more than one!

What do you get when you cross a pirate with a zuchnni?

A Squashbuckler!!!

Allison said...

I meant zucchini!

Rachel said...

Oh, and I'm a big fan of the coconut lime verbena scent too! I like their grapefruit soap and I keep the citrus aromatherapy lotion at my desk to give me energy!

Very cool giveaway!

Rachel said...

Umm - you know I'm a follower. You know - like TOTALLY different from a stalker or something like that.

Not like I'd ever, ya know, freak you out by saying I know your baby when you've never met me.

Yeah - a FOLLOWER :)

Rachel said...

Ooh! Pedipeds! I like the Zach in Black/Red cuz it's on the Make-A-Wish list! But the other ones... love me some Josh and Brady shoes. Aren't Brady so cute for summer???

Rachel said...

And doesn't the Pediped website just make you want a little girl??? How cute!

Rachel said...

Am I annoying you yet?

Cuz I really should be doing something non-bloggy while the kiddo is sleeping.

But think of this bonus... if I win, you can save on shipping and have a playdate instead! :)

Rachel said...

Oh yeah - I was blown away 20+ years ago when we moved up here and no one knew what Fruit Leather was... cuz we Californians (don't be hatin' now) are always the first on the crunchy stuff :) But have you ever seen a little kid try to tear into it with minimal teethage? It's a bit comical!

Great giveaways! Having fun with this!

Rachel said...

Oh, and how DOES Carebear do it??? :)

Carebear said...

Congratulations!!! Can't wait for the tips on the Blurb Blog Book. Speaking of which - when are they going to announce winners?!?!

Anyway, I love this post - glad you borrowed my giveaway idea because you're giving away such great things about wonderful you. Except for the Veggie Booty. Our little Beast got Salmonella from Veggie Booty at 9 months old and had to be admitted to Mary Bridge. He was SICK for 3 weeks. I HATE veggie booty. No joke. And we JUST missed getting in on the class action lawsuit against them because we were distracted with having our OTHER baby. Darn it!

Carebear said...

I am a devoted follower and huge fan. But please, don't pick me to win because you've already given me such a lovely, generous gift in my blog makeover!

I really like the Kyle and the Liam....but this confirms it for me, I need to have another baby so I can at least try to be able to have a baby girl to get some of those adorable shoes for!!

Chels said...

I have been eyeing the Liam's for Thad. The boy needs shoes.

Chels said...

Also for halloween one year my best friend was a pirate and we had to work at Buffalo wild wings that night and she went around to her tables saying "Welcome to Buffalo Wild Wings, can I take yer arrrrder!"

Chels said...

And to sum up how I feel about your blog? In a comment? Ok! I'll try.

Even though I am horrible at updating my blog I really do enjoy reading your blog and others whom are going through the same struggles and joys with their children. Cleft children are truely a blessing but it's really scary in the beginning and there are so many uncertainties it's nice to have people to fall back onto or just connect to in reading!

Krissy said...

Whew -- glad my busy schedule didn't make me miss out on the contest! Entry one -- here's a comment!

Krissy said...

Entry 2 -- I'm a follower :o) Do I get extra points for being your first blog commenter? I just re-read your first post and I was the lone commentor -- that should count for something!!

Krissy said...

Entry 3 - Drew had a couple pairs of Pedipeds when he was younger. I forgot that they had "bigger" sizes too. Fav from the "flex" collection is the Josh b/c Drew seems to have a lot of navy clothes!

Krissy said...

Final entry -- I know no pirate jokes but Google does! This is the first one I came across...kind of lame...

Why did the pirate get a divorce? They kept havin' Arrrguments!

Krissy said...

Ha - I'm back! Just blogged about your give-away, so that's another entry for me :o)
